A house floats in Halle Detroit. Here, two independent theater ensembles from Graz have made a pact to tackle the subject of inheritance. Sixteen people. Who’s rich? Who is likely to inherit? What would be just, and who will get the house? Between mad rushing and silence, scenes, voices, and bodies overlap. As private matters become embroiled in debates about social justice and the future, fifty objects appear: heirlooms. An actor hangs up deer antlers. They seem dangerous and fragile, as if they symbolized the weight of inheritance. They are a trophy, a burden, and a monument all at once. Inheritance begins with loss.
